About me: Post-doctoral researcher CIFOR-INIA

About me

I graduated with a degree in Biology and Master in Ecology from Alicante University (Spain) and did my PhD in Dendroclimatology at the University of Barcelona. I have spent several years as a post-doc in different research institutions in Germany such as the Technische Universität München and Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ.  Nowadays I held a postdoctoral position at the SELVINIA group in INIA.

I am passionate about tree-ring research. I have been using tree rings for addressing both ecological constrains of tree-growth due to global warming and the development of climate reconstructions based on different tree-ring proxies in Mediterranean regions.

My research goal is twofold: on one hand I am interested in finding out how current climate change is influencing tree-growth and how increasingly warm conditions may affect persistence and survival of forest, particularly at the Mediterranean Basin. On the other hand, I am also interested in expanding our knowledge about past climate variations. I believe that a better understanding of how vegetation responds to the current climate conditions together with a long-term perspective on past climate changes will help us to mitigate and adapt to forthcoming challenging climate scenarios.
